ROT13 is its own inverse — applying ROT13 twice returns the original text. Paste encoded text above to decode it.

What is ROT13?

ROT13 is a simple letter substitution cipher that replaces each letter with the letter 13 positions after it in the alphabet. Since the alphabet has 26 letters, applying ROT13 twice returns the original text, making it its own inverse.

ROT13 vs ROT47 vs Caesar Cipher

ROT13 only affects letters. ROT47 extends rotation to all printable ASCII characters (numbers, symbols included). Caesar cipher is the general form with any shift value (ROT13 is Caesar with shift=13).
